Jeremy Miller

founder Health-E Commerce

Jeremy Miller is best known as the Chairman and Founder of Health-E Commerce, the parent company of FSA Store, HSA Store, Well-deserved Health, Medicare OTC, and Caring Mill. He is also well-known for assisting prospective entrepreneurs in achieving their goals and for contributing in the local community through volunteerism and substantial financial contributions.

In 2001, Jeremy Miller graduated from The University of California's Haas School of Business with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he worked as an operations manager at Gehry Partners, LLP, a full-service architectural business founded in 1962 by famed architect Frank Gehry. Miller oversaw the company's expansion into three international cities, managed and coordinated the operations of over one hundred global consultants across three continents, served as a liaison between regional project managers and clients, forecasted revenues and profits, and managed the human relations department, among other responsibilities.

Miller left Gehry Partners LLP to attend Columbia Business School in New York to study entrepreneurship and management. He was on the Dean's List during his studies and served as a teaching assistant for the university's Greenhouse Entrepreneurship Program and Launching New Ventures Program. During this time, he had the idea to launch a healthcare firm based on assisting employees in understanding and making the most of flexible spending accounts (FSA). An FSA, which is set up with an employer, allows employees to spend their income tax-free on medical expenses; however, as Miller discovered while working at Gehry Partners LLC, many employees didn't understand how the process worked and were foregoing the opportunity to cover healthcare-related expenses without paying taxes on the income used for this purpose.

Jeremy Miller's new business concept earned the Odyssey Global MBA Award for Best Entrepreneurial Business Idea at Columbia Business School. Furthermore, the school's Lang Fund, along with other Angel investors, gave Jeremy Miller with the capital he required to launch his new business. Health-E Commerce began operations in 2010 with the stated purpose of "simplifying the tax-free healthcare market in the United States and assisting everyday Americans and businesses in benefiting better from workplace benefits, wellness, and health spending programs." In the same year, the company launched its FSA store to simplify the FSA market and make it easier for consumers to identify which products/services are covered by an FSA account. It was the first e-commerce site dedicated only to FSA-eligible products, and it now boasts the most complete eligibility list for consumer convenience.

Jeremy Miller, never one to rest on his laurels, established the HSA shop in 2015. The store is intended to assist individuals with a health savings account (HSA) in quickly and conveniently locating HSA-eligible products, maximizing health savings, and stretching HSA money to address routine healthcare-related needs. Caring Mill is a private-label range of health and wellness goods that was created in 2017. Health-E Commerce donates to the Children's Health Fund for every product purchased in order to offer great healthcare to deserving children. The business was the first to allow Americans to utilize tax-free money to benefit a non-profit organization. Well Deserved was introduced in 2019 to allow customers to use Wellness Rewards to purchase health-related things. Medicare OTC Store, Health-E Commerce's most recent initiative, is a specialized platform designed to make it simple for senior folks to browse for products covered by Medicare Advantage plans' additional OTC benefits.

Health-E Commerce has had a lot of success. It serves more than 200,000 customers. Jeremy Miller was named EY Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018 for his outstanding business strategy. From 2016 through 2020, his company got Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Awards for being one of the fastest-growing companies in the United States.

Community Development and Charitable Giving

Jeremy Miller has always been concerned with the less fortunate. He not only donates generously from Caring Mill purchases, but he also volunteers with Save the Children, American Cancer Society, Relay for Life Manhattan, and Children's Health Fund.

Furthermore, Jeremy Miller has gone out of his way to make his company a great place to work. Employees at Health-E Commerce have complete health, vision, and dental coverage, as well as access to a 401(k) plan, flexible spending and health savings accounts, and the ability to telecommute and take paid time off. Boat trips, movies, meals, laser tag, virtual scavenger hunts, paint parties, and other fun events are regularly planned by the company's Culture Committee to let employees relax and get to know one another. It's no surprise that Health-E Commerce has been named one of Crain's Best Places to Work in NYC for three years in a row.

Personal Existence

Jeremy Miller is a firm believer in the value of a healthy work-life balance. He enjoys meditating, boxing, and spending time with his wife and two children when he is not at work.
